The USC Rossier School of Education Career Services is looking for an intelligent, motivated individual to provide career advisement for students pursuing degrees at USC Rossier.
USC’s Rossier School of Education seeks a career services professional to serve as Rossier’s Career Services Specialist. The role serves as key contact for the delivery of specialized career services to Rossier graduate and undergraduate students and alumni including but not limited to international students. The position assists with the implementation of resources, services, tools, and programming to meet the career-counseling needs of Rossier students and alumni, as well as advises students with appropriate career-planning and management strategies and job search skills, and partners, under the direction of the Career Services Manager, with Rossier’s student groups and the faculty and staff of our academic programs to advance, coordinate and implement career services programs and activities. Collaborates with career services leadership, fellow advisors, and relevant stakeholders to identify areas for service enhancements, as well as leads assessment efforts for Career Services. This is a fixed-term position with an annual contract.
Primary job duties include advising students and alumni, one-on-one and in small and large groups, with appropriate career management strategies and job search skills. Conceptualizes, plans, and executes career development opportunities (e.g., job fairs, career workshops, lectures). This position provides career coaching and support to students and alumni, providing key guidance on all areas of career development.
Leverages alumni career connections to benefit current students by inviting alumni to share their expertise through alumni/career industry panels, participation in mentoring of students, participation on the career network platform, or other career office programming.
Facilitates student, alumni, and employer outreach through USC’s electronic job board and networking systems. Helps students and alumni navigate industry specific career paths and recruiting processes via those systems.
Develops publicity and marketing materials for office programs (i.e., flyers, social media)
Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to collaborate in programming and to identify areas for service improvement. Attends interdepartmental and central university meetings, and participates in professional organizations and conferences, representing career services, as directed.
Leads the compilation and presentation of graduate placement survey data and other departmental assessment.
Maintains data on students and alumni, contact information, jobs, and placement.
Must have the ability to be flexible and adaptable.

Preferred Education: Master’s degree in business administration, counseling, higher education, human resources, or related field
Preferred Experience: 7 years
Preferred Field of Expertise: Advanced knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, and occupational, career, and employment information sources. Superior level of professionalism, exceptional attention to detail, and exemplary written and oral communication, presentation, and public-speaking skills. Proven business savvy, interpersonal skills, and ability to deliver quality services, and passion as it relates to impact on outcomes. In-depth knowledge of federal immigration regulations, interpreting and providing guidance as to their pertinence to international students.
The salary range for this position is $80,000.00 – $90,000.00. Minimum Field of Expertise:
Bachelor’s degree in counseling, higher education, human resources, or related field. Four years’ counseling and human resources experience in a corporate or higher education environment, or similar industry. Leadership and guidance skills with a proven ability to manage, balance, and prioritize different tasks and projects. In-depth knowledge of federal immigration regulations, interpreting and providing guidance as to their relevance to international students. Advanced knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, and occupational, career, and employment information sources. Superior level of professionalism, exceptional attention to detail, and exemplary written and oral communication, presentation, and public-speaking skills. Demonstrated experience interacting with diverse individuals and groups, exercising diplomacy, good judgment, and discretion.
