CT Technologist – CT Scanner – Full Time 10 Hour Rotating Shifts (Non-Exempt) (Union) – (Los Angeles, California, United States)

The CAT Scan Technologist provides support for the radiologists in the performance of highly specialized procedures in computed tomography studies.

Essential Duties:

  • Organizes, plans and directs activities relating to patients and procedures for their designated area.
  • Demonstrates computer science knowledge and principles related to CT scanning and films according to approved protocols.
  • Demonstrates complete working knowledge of imaging equipment and computer software necessary to perform studies. Calibrates imaging systems periodically as required (i.e., tube warm-up).
  • Prepares and positions patient for CT Scan procedure; biopsy/aspiration procedures, sets up procedure trays. Demonstrates correct and adequate anatomic positioning skills. Procedures are planned and executed considering physiologic and developmental age. Serves infants through geriatric.
  • Adjusts technical factors in proportion to patient age and body part being examined while minimizing radiation.
  • Reviews exam for proper positioning, technique and identification as per approved protocols.
  • Confirms patient identification by verifying name and birthdate.
  • Reviews doctor’s order and requisition for physician notes and/or special instructions, reviews with radiologist and patient if necessary, to assure safety and appropriateness.
  • Recognizes emergency situations, indicate code and properly administer aid as needed.
  • Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards.
  • Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination to patient and instruments.
  • Records pertinent patient information and completes all paperwork as required and assists in maintaining files. Performs billing functions timely and
  • accurately.
  • Prepares exam for reading by scanning all supporting documents into PACS.
  • Participate in after hours callback, including weekends and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req High school or equivalent
  • Req Specialized/technical training Graduate of an AMA approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Req Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
  • Req Must be comfortable computers and medical terminology.
  • Req Must have technical skills to operate radiography equipment and computers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref 2 years Experience as a CT Technologist
  • Pref Advanced CT

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Registered Technologist – R.T. (ARRT)
  • Req Certified Radiologic Technologist (CA DPH)
  • Req Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit (CA DPH)
  • Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

 

The hourly rate range for this position is $45.00 – $76.50.
