Job Summary:
Join the dynamic team at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC as a Dental Dispensary Aide. In this role, you will assist in the operation and maintenance of one or more dental dispensaries. Your responsibilities include prepackaging and distributing dental materials and equipment to students and faculty, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the dispensaries operate efficiently. You’ll also play a crucial role in supporting pre-clinical classes and maintaining a clean, organized dispensary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Management: Control distribution of clinical equipment by signing and scanning items in and out, and notifying students or doctors of unreturned items.
- Material Preparation: Prepackage dental materials according to protocols, prepare solutions, and follow proper handling techniques for equipment and chemicals.
- Dispensary Maintenance: Keep dispensaries clean and orderly, disinfect and sterilize equipment, and ensure shelves are stocked appropriately.
- Data Entry: Transfer data from handheld scanning devices to the computer system, maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Operational Support: Open clinic or pre-clinic dispensaries, prepare for daily operations, and manage supplies, lab coats, and other inventory needs.
- Compliance: Adhere to protocols for handling used instruments, disposable materials, and dental materials.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the dispensary’s efficient operation.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of related work experience, preferably with some dental assisting exposure.
- Certifications: Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Skills:
- Service-oriented with strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Knowledge of computer operations and inventory systems (e.g., Axium).
- Completion of HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), and Payment Card Industry (PCI) training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with dental assisting processes.

The hourly rate for this position is $21.00 – $22.00.
