Emotional Support and Wellness Counselor – Care for the Caregiver – Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union) – (Los Angeles, California, United States)

Care for the Caregiver supports our Keck Medicine of USC healthcare workforce by helping to create an environment where staff, faculty, and trainees can thrive and provide outstanding patient care. Care for the Caregiver is seeking an Emotional Support and Wellness Counselor to provide workshops and programs on emotional health and resilience within the Keck Medicine of USC medical system. Individuals will be focusing their efforts on improving the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare workers, in combination with a team of other individuals addressing various factors of healthcare worker wellness. Successful applicants will be supporting the needs of Keck Medicine of USC staff and providers along with engaging in research related duties and activities.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop, plan, and execute training sessions and workshops for hospital staff and providers to teach emotional health and resilience
  • Select evidenced based concepts and interventions from frameworks such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) that are effective in addressing healthcare worker burnout, demoralization, and anxiety resulting from chronic stress
  • Identify and incorporate relevant research and best practices from healthcare worker burnout literature, industrial/organizational psychology and/or relevant fields of psychology into a program that teaches healthcare workers self-regulation skills that improve their emotional state and lead to enhanced job performance
  • Engage in activities that support the mission to improve healthcare worker wellness within the Keck Medicine community
  • Conduct sessions and workshops with staff and providers based upon cultural survey data
  • Travel to various hospitals/healthcare facilities within the Keck Medicine network maybe required to complete duties
  • Early morning or evening activities may be needed to accommodate night shift staff and providers
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 
Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology
  • 2 years Counseling experience
  • 2 years Experience utilizing evidenced-based psychological interventions for consultation and education of teams and/or individuals within a workplace setting
  • Proficient in MS Office and applicable computer applications.
  • Resilient, self-aware, and able to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, and team oriented environment
  • Effectively works in a highly diverse, multicultural, and LGBTQIA affirmative environment
  • Desire to continue to grow as a professional; committed to excellence and lifelong learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate Ph.D./Psy.D. from an accredited university
  • Licensed Psychologist (CA DCA) Must receive CA license within 180 days of CA license application.
  • Certification – Job Relevant Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) education and Certificate.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $39.00 – $63.95.
