The USC Shoah Foundation and Living Links are proud to work closely together to build the first nationwide organization devoted to empowering 3Gs (grandchildren of Holocaust survivors). The USC Shoah Foundation brings 30 years of educational and organizational expertise to this visionary partnership and strong commitment to help build this new organization. Over the last 2 years, the co-founders of Living Links worked closely with the 12 existing 3G communities across the country to develop the strategy, vision, and lay leadership infrastructure of this entity. Our vision is to create national access to an acclaimed Speaker Training Program that guides 3Gs to tell their grandparents’ Holocaust survival stories in classrooms, campuses, and organizations. Our programs are designed to create strong leaders, build new 3G communities across the country, and help existing 3G communities thrive. Living Links will be developed at USC Shoah Foundation with the intention of launching a self-sustaining, national organization in approximately 3-5 years.

Position Overview:  

We seek a highly motivated self-starter who will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for developing and building the new Living Links organization developed at USC Shoah Foundation. This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned entrepreneurial leader to build and grow an organization with the help and guidance of partners. The founding Managing Director will inspire employees and motivate external stakeholders to achieve the mission and vision of this organization. Creating the strategic direction to meet 3 core programmatic goals—1) Advance the 3G movement across the country; 2) Develop nationwide educational programming; 3) Support 3G networks in responding to current events. This person will lead the efforts to realize Living Links’ critical mission. 

This position will be based at the USC Shoah Foundation offices in Los Angeles CA or Washington DC and reports to USC Shoah Foundation’s Senior Director of Programs.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Engage and collaborate with USC Shoah Foundation staff to create lasting relationships that build the Living Links organization through hiring staff and building its fundamental pillars.  
  • Engage with Living Links to continue building the critical infrastructure for this partnership to thrive.
  • Participate in national fundraising activities with both USC Shoah Foundation and Living Links advancement teams to support existing operations, initiatives, and regional expansion to cultivate growth. 
  • Seek to leverage all areas of collaboration with USC Shoah Foundation that will benefit both organizations. 
  • Conduct a steady quality of finance, administration, fundraising, communications, and reporting. 
  • Identify and recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals. 
  • Oversee all aspects of the education program to scale the Speaker Training Program. Evaluate program components to measure success to be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents. 

  • Create an advocacy framework with the Affiliate Council that allows the unique moral voice of 3Gs to be heard. 
  • Communicate consistently with organizational committees, partnering organizations, and funders to ensure that we build a sustainable organization and are ready to independently launch in 3-5 years. 
  • Build partnerships with major organizations that have regional offices in new cities that benefit the local organizations (i.e., JCRC, Federations), establishing relationships with organizational and community leaders. 
  • Design a strategy and plan to cultivate new and existing 3G groups across the country. 
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong advisory board that can provide direction and where you will serve as ex-officio of each committee. You will need to build board involvement with strategic direction for ongoing national operations. 
  • Coordinate internally and across all the local chapters to develop and evaluate marketing materials / social media and PR to support, find and engage the 3G community across the country.  
  • Work with regional 3G groups (via the Affiliate council) to lead, coach, and support their needs so Living Links can demonstrate effective servant leadership.​     ​ 


  • ​​​Identify local successes that can be used for lessons and guidance for other regional chapters. 
  • Onboard as part of USC Shoah Foundation staff – attending meetings, representing USC Shoah Foundation carrying out its mission and strategic priorities,as it relates to building the 3G network.

Prerequisite Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree, with at least 5 years of senior management experience; track record of effectively leading and regionally and/or nationally scaling an organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth​.​ 
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop lay-lead teams, set, and achieve strategic objectives. 
  • Willingness to travel, with more trips in the first year as the organization​ is launched. 
  • ​​Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation​.​​ 


  • Significant experience in major gift fundraising as well as fiscal and budget management.  
  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders. 
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to organizational planning​.​ 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills​.​ 
  • Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed. 
  • Ability to build a positive culture organization of collaboration, open-communication, and growth. 
  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships. 

The annual base salary range for this position is $124,857.10 – $150,000.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
