The USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Southern California (USC Norris) was founded in 1971 and has been continuously funded as an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1973. USC Norris has a rich tradition of collaborative research and serves as a major regional and national resource for cancer research, prevention, treatment, and education.
The Data Science Core (DSCi), a group of programmers who provide informatics services to cancer investigators, is seeking a scientific applications programmer to support to USC Norris faculty engaged in scientific investigations and clinical trials. The successful candidate will have a foundation in programming and relational data coupled with a desire to learn about and contribute to cancer research. DSCi leverages enterprise applications (REDCap, OpenSpecimen, Medidata RAVE EDC) and custom programming (.NET, Blazor, R) to provide the technical infrastructure of funded studies and interventional clinical trials. The person who fills this position will interface with USC Norris faculty in partnership with a team of experienced programmers.
Job Accountabilities:
The Scientific Applications Programmer will support cancer investigations and clinical trials by (1) implementing projects in enterprise applications (REDCap, OpenSpecimen, Medidata RAVE EDC) , (2) writing application code (.NET, Blazor, R), (3) coding reports and dashboards over relational data (SQL, SSRS). Clinical trial informatics are supported operationally by Medidata RAVE EDC and an integrated DSCi relational database for reporting. Cancer studies frequently require a mix of technologies including REDCap, OpenSpecimen, and custom programming. This individual will utilize and code for the aforementioned technologies under the supervision of senior staff. The Scientific Applications Programmer will work with protected health information and learn about the interesting world of medical research in an academic setting.

The hourly rate range for this position is $42.73/hr – $48.18/hr. Minimum Field of Expertise: Sound knowledge of programming and documentation procedures, programming methods, program flow charts and operator instructions. Knowledge of one or more appropriate computer languages.
