Stock Worker & Receiver – Dietary – Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union) – (Los Angeles, California, United States)

The Stock Worker and Receiver is responsible for placing orders, receiving merchandise, unloading or unpacking it, marking it with labels and dates, stocking shelves. They work in stockrooms, walk-in coolers and other storage areas in the kitchen. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Keck Medicine of USC may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments. Receives, lifts, moves, stores, issues, counts, sorts, weighs and verifies items on requisitions or invoices.
  • Takes random temperatures of incoming products as well as the delivery truck. Records on the invoice. Compares incoming shipments to bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records to verify information.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper and Chef to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Fills department requisitions and issues supply from stock.
  • Takes inventory with Executive Chef or other designee. Utilizes in-house inventory tracking system.
  • Returns damaged items or other items to vendors that do not meet Keck Medicine of USC specifications.
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas by sweeping and mopping, discarding outdated items, discarding empty boxes, cleaning Lexan storage as required and ensuring items are properly wrapped, labeled and dated.
  • Provides security for all stock in the storeroom and/or refrigerators/freezer.
  • Follows all safety requirements of Keck Medicine of USC, the facility, local, state and federal jurisdictions.
  • May move or transport materials or supplies through department using hand truck.
  • Complies with all Keck Medicine of USC’s local policies and procedures related to all assigned work.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • May fill in for “Stock worker and Receiver Sr.” in their absence.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent
  • If no High Diploma, GED or Equivalent, a minimum of 1 year of experience is required as a substitution of education.
  • Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience If no High Diploma, GED or Equivalent, a minimum of 1 year of experience is required as a substitution of education.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math calculation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $18.20 – $30.97.
