The USC Viterbi School of Engineering is recognized for creating new and innovative models of technology entrepreneurship and commercialization that are firmly rooted in real world needs. The mission of the Viterbi School’s Office of Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OTIE) is to (1) educate engineers on strategies to invent, develop, integrate, and sustain technologies that address significant needs; (2) launch ventures with meaningful social and economic impact based on USC faculty, staff, students, and technologies; and (3) promote an ethical and inclusive technology innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
OTIE is seeking a Program Coordinator who will report to the Managing Director for Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship to manage the administrative duties for OTIE’s programs and events. This is a full-time grant-funded position with an initial term of one year. Renewal will be dependent on fund availability.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Program management:

Own and drive our events, including pitch competitions, speaker series, workshops, information sessions, mentor meetings, etc.

Working with OTIE staff, develop and collect metrics on program success

Create and distribute marketing and recruiting materials
-
Coordinate communications such as answering questions about programs, manage application processes, distribute assignments, post-program follow ups, and share opportunities/events

Work with internal (campus) and external partners, as well as vendors to drive event success
-
Assist with program growth strategies such as identifying program gaps, identifying and pursuing funding opportunities, and data collection for storytelling of program impact

Oversee student workers
Communications/marketing:
-
Collect, create, and distribute newsletter

Develop and execute digital (web/social) and physical (flyers/grassroots ground game) marketing and recruitment strategy to build and engage both campus and external innovation communities

Create end-of-year stewardship reports
Event Coordination:
-
Organize all event logistics including coordinating dates, securing internal venues, communicating with speakers, signage, prepping venue IT (microphones, zoom, cameras, projectors), etc.

Create and distribute marketing material

Work with student worker for registration, guest lists, etc.

Provide support during event
-
Conduct post event wrap-up (tear down, distributing information/surveys/etc.)

Additional Information
This is a hybrid position. The TIE Program Coordinator will be expected to work onsite for1-2 days a week). The hourly rate range for this position is $30.27 – $34.31 Hourly. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and members of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Experience working with startups, founders, or researchers within the innovation ecosystem (such as at an incubator, investor, or at a startup) as well as developing digital, social media, and print marketing collateral is a bonus. As we are working on building many new programs, we favor candidates that thrive on change, enjoy working in uncertainty, focus on continual improvement, and are biased towards action. Experience working within a university setting is helpful, but not necessary.

Bachelor’s Degree with at least five years of experience in program management and event coordination.
