The USC Keck School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Immunohistochemistry Technician II who will be responsible for performing technical procedures and tasks supporting the day-to-day operations
of the Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. In addition, he/she will provide technical expertise to ensure proper functioning of these divisions for optimal quality, efficiency, productivity, and turnaround times.
Specific Job-Related Duties:
Performs high complexity testing and advanced histopathology procedures, and staining techniques by accurately identifying the proper control tissues and antibodies to be used.
- Offers expertise in all areas of the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory to include, but not limited to: H&E, special stains, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Electron microscopy (EM), immunofluorescent (IF), and CISH staining.
- Ensures that all required solutions and chemicals are properly prepared, and that automated laboratory equipment is in working order.
- Serves as the resource for coordination of research projects, test validation, and clinical test implementation activities in the department.
- Develops new Immunohistochemistry (IHC) antibody protocols.
- Responsible for Quality Metrics to improve the value of patient care.
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulatory agencies.
Hourly range:
The hourly rate range for this position is $38.69 – $49.98. Minimum Education: Related undergraduate study
Minimum Certifications: Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification required from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Minimum Experience: 3 years
Addtional Experience Requirements Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum work experience
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Certifications: ASCP issued Immunohistochemistry (QHIC) certification
Preferred Experience: 5 years
