A large component of this position will be directing a multi-cohort environmental working group dedicated to understanding the impact of environmental exposures on brain structure and function. The applicant will be required to apply and obtain funding for this effort through NIH or other grant mechanisms. As such, the applicant should exhibit strong skills in grantsmanship and empirical science writing. Additionally, applicants with working knowledge or expertise in the use of machine learning and advanced data science strategies to address clinically relevant questions about the brain are strongly encouraged to apply. This includes up to 32-35 hours per week of patient care.Provide treatment using neuromodulation modalities, as indicated.Facilitate higher level of care referrals and hospitalizations, when needed.  Support medication treatment with brief supportive therapy and motivational interviewing when indicated, with the provider’s role and expertise primarily relating to the biological treatment of the student.  Cover on-call emergencies, as assigned. This includes being available for urgent medication issues of patients on assigned workdays, and for your outpatient clinic patients.Currently there are rotating Consultation and Liaison (CL) weekend on-call duties for psychiatrists. Candidates will be considered for Assistant, Associate, or full Professor as determined by experience and qualifications. We are primarily looking for individuals on the Clinical-Educator tract and Clinical tract though we will also consider candidates on other academic tracts.The successful candidate will provide clinical care in the inpatient and outpatient settings including outreach clinics and the ambulatory infusion center. While the position is chiefly clinical, faculty are expected to contribute to the education of medical students, pediatric residents, pediatric fellows in our training program and rotating trainees in various levels of training including adult rheumatology fellows.  Opportunities exist to conduct clinical, translational or basic research.The Division of Rheumatology at CHLA is the largest pediatric rheumatology program in Southern California with 5 faculty members and trains 1-2 fellows per year. The division has a satellite clinic in Long Beach, CA.  The program has an exceptionally large and diverse patient population that includes inflammatory arthritis, lupus, systemic vasculitis, dermatomyositis and periodic fever syndromes. Faculty members are involved in clinical trials with Pediatric Rheumatology Collaborative Research Group (PRCSG), research efforts through Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), and collaborative studies with other disciplines.The Division has an excellent multidisciplinary support team that includes nursing, social work, registered dietician, OT and PT, financial counselors and administrative staff. The hospital offers inpatient and outpatient Rehabilitation Services and a comprehensive pain management program.
