College Advisor – (Los Angeles, California, United States)

College AdviserUSC College Advising Corps (USC CAC) Advisers play a critical role in delivering high quality postsecondary advising to students within a high school setting. College Advisers assist students with their college searches, applications, financial aid, and enrollment. They also host presentations, workshops, and events focused on supporting postsecondary attainment. College Advisers carefully track student interactions and outcomes via our online student tracker to meet performance metrics and goals. As well, College Advisers are responsible for attending summer training, on-going professional development training, team meetings, and may be asked to work on other partnership projects. College Advisers report to the Program Director at USC and an on-site liaison at their assigned school.College Advising is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week). The rate for this position is $22.00 per hour.Please note that the adviser IS a USC employee, but will NOT work on the USC campus. The College Adviser’s primary work location will be a local high school. The high school campus will be in the greater Los Angeles area. The establishment of the USC CAC program grew from the center’s mission to foster greater equity and expertise in educational access, admissions and outcomes. Since 2013, USC CAC advisers have collectively provided college advising services to over 74,000 seniors. We define media industries broadly, from television, film, music, telecommunication and radio, to streaming services, platforms and infrastructures, including social media, immersive and interactive media, gaming and game engine technology, and the convergences across them all.  The ideal candidate will be familiar with the historical and shifting structural and material conditions transforming the media industries, whether technological, economic, political, legal and regulatory, or socio-cultural.  Of notable interest are critical scholars interested in considerations of how power operates within these industries, while also tracking the latest developments in media innovation and entrepreneurship, how strategic media management and behavioral economics inform creative and corporate leadership, disruption of business models and supply chains, the nature and impact of datafication, algorithms, and artificial intelligence on media practices, and the challenges facing media labor, professionalization, and unionization.  Other areas of specialization might include relationships to communities marginalized by race and ethnicity, sexuality, gender, and ableness; the relation of regulation and policy to media industries; the environmental impacts of media industries;  and, the politics and policies of media convergence.  The candidate will contribute to our Ph.D. program, industry-related master’s programs, and undergraduate program. The Department of Mathematics in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, seeks to fill several positions of Assistant Professor (RTPC) of Mathematics with an anticipated start date of August 2025. These are teaching and research-track positions with terms of up to 3 years and a teaching load of 3-semester courses per year.Candidates in all fields of mathematics will be considered. Candidates should demonstrate great promise in research and evidence of strong teaching.
