The Manager of Utilization Review provides administrative and operational support to the Director of Case Management. To develop and implement speech pathology services and direct patient care in coordination with the rehabilitation team and in compliance with organizational goals and appropriate regulatory agencies. Under the supervision of the Manager of Speech Pathology, provides speech pathology services for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with various diagnoses. Major duties include patient evaluation, problem resolution, patient care documentation, attendance at patient care related meetings, delegation of duties to support personnel, participation as a member of a team, and maintenance of an appropriate level of productivity. Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills. Precepts students, Clinical Fellows and/or new staff.Essential Duties:Serves as a clinical resource person and assigns and supervises the work of the new staff, including completion of competency validation tool.Upon referral of a patient to the department, the pathologist initiates care per policy and provides and/or manages all aspects of speech pathology intervention.Consistently completes all required documentation as per departmental policy.Participates in clinics, rounds, and patient conferences, as assigned and as patient care responsibilities allow.Attends and contributes to patient care conferences, as listed above, to provide continuity of care.Employee provides leadership in conference that facilitates conference process, improves communication, or increased effectiveness and efficiency of the conference.Employee leads, through professional contribution, to increased awareness of role of therapy or impacts care plan of patients.Manages a full patient caseload, which includes all aspects of patient care, documentation and communication requirements, and assists in meeting departmental efficiency requirements.Demonstrates commitment to the profession as evidenced by membership in the American Speech and Hearing Association.Attends one professional meeting per year.Publishes, speaks, participates in clinical research, or runs for elected office in the American Speech Pathology Association.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Req Master’s degree In Communication Disorders satisfying American Speech and Hearing Association academic and practicum requirements for Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).Req Specialized/technical training Successful completion of clinical training.Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior.Req Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word as well as Internet access and utilization.Req Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.Preferred Qualifications:Pref 3 years 3 years’ experience in an acute hospital setting Preferred.Required Licenses/Certifications: Req Speech Language Pathologist – SLP (CA DCA) Current California license.Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.Req Cert Clinical Comp in Speech Language Pathology – CCCSLP (ASHA) Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. The Department of Neurology is seeking an experienced Project Specialist with master’s in Public Health or Biostatistics to be part of the multiple sclerosis research team.   This position will assist the principal investigators with study protocols such as statistical analysis plans, project planning and management, collection, cleaning, and management of data, including programming edit checks, performing data validation, and resolving data discrepancies, conducting statistical analyses including descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and data visualization, assist in recruitment and retention, reporting and dissemination.
